윌로 (The Willow)
제기동 청량리 경동시장에 위치한 윌로(The Willow)는 공간디자인 스튜디오, 스튜디오 익센트릭 (Studio Eccentric)에서 운영하는 크리에이티브 스페이스입니다.
60여 년 전통의 재래시장 속 위치한 크리에이티브 스페이스라는 지리적 특성에서도 보이듯이 윌로는 상충하는 요소들 사이의 충돌 지점에 주목하며, 감각적인 믹스 앤 매치 (Mix and Match)를 추구합니다. 작업이 기존과 다른 맥락에 놓였을 때 새로운 시각으로 읽힐 수 있는 구성과 배치를 고민하고, 이질적인 요소들의 조합 및 다양한 형식적 실험을 지지합니다.
경동시장이 개설된 1960년보다도 이전인 1955년 사료창고로 만들어졌던 공간에서, 2023년 8월 더 윌로가 공식적으로 문을 열었습니다. 68년의 시간을 머금은 공간이 더 윌로를 찾아주시는 사람들의 활기, 그리고 다양한 창작자들의 만남으로 생성되는 낯선 조화로 채워지기를 기대합니다.
The Willow, located in Gyeongdong Market of Jegi-dong, is a creative space operated by design studio, Studio Eccentric.
As seen in the local characteristics of the creative space situated in a traditional market with more than 60 years of tradition, The Willow focuses on the collision between different elements and pursues a sensuous mix and match. The Will team considers new configurations and arrangements, which can create different perspectives in an unconventional context, and also support a combination of disparate elements and various formal experiments.
In the space made for the function of a feed warehouse in 1955, even before Gyeongdong Market’s opening in 1960, the creative space The Willow officially opened in August 2023. We hope that 68 years of space will be filled with the vitality of various people who visit and the distinctive harmony created by the collision of various creators.
